First Meeting
A first meeting will be a chance to look in detail at the issues which brought you here. It will usually last about 90 minutes. You can decide together with Gordon what possible solutions may work and how you want to proceed from there.
Counselling or Therapy?
Many situations are best addressed through a solution focused approach. Through counselling, people can use skills and resources they already have over one or a small number of meetings. Looking at the situation differently with an experienced professional may be enough in itself to bring positive change.
Sometimes people want the longer term and more analytical approach. This psychotherapeutic approach can explore past life experiences to help them understand and better deal with where they are now.
People may just want an assessment or a professional view that may help them make better choices for and have a better understanding of a young person. Examples are assessment of attention and concentration difficulties or problems with communication and social interaction.
