Gordon Lynch started his work in the field of Mental and Emotional health through nursing. He went on to do Mental Health Nursing and then specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Heath Nursing.
He was the first Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Mental Health in Ireland five years before anyone else achieved this.

- Member of Board of ACAMH (Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) in London - The first Irish representative elected to the board of the world's leading professional and academic body in the field of Young People's Mental Health
- Chair Person of the Irish Branch of ACAMH
- Founder chair of FINCAMH - (Forum in Ireland for Nurses in Child & Adolescent Mental Health)
- Representative to The Specialist Advisory Group to the HSE on Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
- Advisor to the planning group for "Vision for Change" the policy document for Mental Health Services in Ireland
- Extensive teaching and training experience within the HSE, Universities and other colleges
- Pioneered and published radical clinical delivery systems aimed at reducing waiting lists while delivering best possible service to service users
- Coordinator / Director of Warrenstown House - Ireland's principal therapeutic residential unit for Young People
