Individual or family support can help. Sometimes another view of a situation can help someone or those around them to use skills they already have.

Many young people have times when they are just not getting on at home with their family, in school or out and about with friends and society.
It happens in different ways. Some seem more angry than usual and are fighting with the world and the people around them. Some lose interest in things or do not communicate with family or friends. Some won't or can't concentrate or study as well as others think they should. Some become fearful of differentsituations or lose confidence in their own ability. |
As with adults, young people need to want to attend - or at least be willing to "give it a go".
Young people, like anyone else, need to be in charge of how their own therapy goes.
Confidentiality and the trust are important regardless of age.
Parents / Carers need to be comfortable with client / therapist confidentiality. This means they may not know all that is discussed in their young persons therapy.
They will be told things they need to know as parents. They will be told things that their young person has agreed to share with them.
They will be an active part of the therapeutic process when that is helpful and agreed by all.
